Drillworks are inspired by nature, numbers and all I observe and feel

The original technique of Drillwork itself, as far as I know, is a unique artistic method and thus I have a world of experimentation before me.

Every piece offers up some new discovery to remember, effects caused by methods, drill bit size etc. and therefore often I manage to reuse these discoveries in later work.

Firstly this experimental aspect is hugely inspiring, particularly as I can never really know how the work will turn out until the moment it is finished and lit, only then do I see if the imagined result has been achieved.

Secondly the artistic inspiration, what can I do with the drill? To me it sometimes feels like anything is possible and everything needs to be tried.

I am constantly looking for new ideas in the world around me but often I find myself attracted to nature, symmetry and geometry, whether in natural surroundings or elsewhere.

Light is the paint, the drill is the brush, the rest is up to the imagination.
